My not-so-hot take on New Years Resolutions

Given I’m a movement and wellness professional it’s exceptionally reasonable that I’m asked and expected to have a myriad of New Years resolutions. But alas, I do not.

As a Pilates practitioner, I know Pilates to be an important part of the whole. The whole being, a well worn and sustainable practice. A practice being, the rhythms one maintains to care for their insides.

That for me is comprised of a great many things — Pilates fundamentals, psychotherapy, meditative incline walks in which I stare at a white wall and attempt-to-not-attempt-to-not-think-thoughts, HIIT (high intensity interval training), acupuncture and massage, my diet, my sleep habits, etc.

Now am I frequently reevaluating and adjusting my practice? Absolutely. Every season (of life) holds space for a different combination or expression of the above.

Since the dawn of… advertising… we’ve been sold impossibilities. With the rise of social media, the imposition of those has become insufferable. I find the whole charade to be quite gas lighting for most.

But ya know, “New Year, same-you-with-consistent-microscopic-unsexy-shifts-performed-with-humility-that-you-allow-to-quietly-snowball-into-a-beautiful-sustainable-practice” just doesn’t sell.

All that to say, if you think it may be helpful to have a professional guide you in the crafting of what could be a sustainable practice for yourself, and/or in the maintaining of said sustainable practice (aka. accountability), then I’m here—ready and able to assist. Just let me know and we can either discuss some of this during your next Private session, or we can set up an individual coaching session, whatever is your preference.

Whether it be at the New Year or in the middle of May on an uneventful Tuesday, I’m here to encourage, support, and guide you in the beauty that is maintaining an abundant, adaptive practice. A practice that serves you and your insides, so that you may do… so that you may be, well.
